The Mynd Approach

Five chartered clinical psychologists united by a shared vision of compassionate, affirming care.

Understanding the Person Behind the Referral

At Mynd Clinical Psychology, we believe that every person has a unique way of thinking, learning, communicating and experiencing the world. Whether you are seeking support for yourself, your child or a family member, our role is to develop a meaningful understanding of that individual’s experiences, strengths and support needs.

Our work is guided by curiosity, compassion and evidence based practice. We take time to understand not only the difficulties that have brought someone to assessment or therapy, but also the qualities, abilities and interests that make them who they are.

We recognise that seeking psychological support is often an important step. Our aim is to create a collaborative and respectful experience where individuals and families feel listened to, understood and supported throughout the process.

A Neuroaffirming Philosophy

At Mynd Clinical Psychology, we embrace a neuroaffirming approach to assessment and intervention.

We recognise that differences in attention, communication, learning, sensory processing and ways of thinking are a natural part of human diversity. Every brain develops differently, and there is no single “right” way to experience or engage with the world.

Our psychologists seek to understand each person’s unique neurocognitive profile, recognising both strengths and areas where additional support may be helpful. Rather than focusing solely on identifying difficulties, we explore how a person’s profile influences their everyday experiences, relationships, learning, work and wellbeing.

This perspective allows us to provide recommendations that are practical, meaningful and individualised, helping each person to better understand themselves and access the supports they need to thrive.

Looking Beyond Diagnosis

Many people come to us seeking answers.

Some are wondering whether Autism, ADHD or another neurodevelopmental difference may explain lifelong experiences. Others are looking for a clearer understanding of learning, emotional wellbeing, cognitive strengths or everyday challenges.

Our assessments are designed to answer these questions thoughtfully and comprehensively.

Where a diagnosis is appropriate, we provide a clear explanation of what this means and how it relates to the individual’s experiences. Where a diagnosis is not indicated, we work to understand what factors may better explain the person’s presentation and identify practical ways forward.

Our goal is always to leave people with greater clarity, understanding and confidence, regardless of the outcome.

A Whole Person Perspective

Psychological assessment is about much more than completing questionnaires or standardised tests.

We bring together information from clinical interviews, developmental history, psychological assessment, behavioural observation and, where appropriate, information from parents, teachers and other professionals.

This enables us to understand how different aspects of a person’s life interact, including their cognitive profile, attention, communication, emotional wellbeing, sensory experiences, relationships, education, work and daily functioning.

By considering the whole person, we are able to provide formulations and recommendations that are meaningful, individualised and grounded in both evidence and lived experience.

Collaborative Assessment and Therapy

We believe that psychological assessment and therapy are collaborative processes.

Children, adults and families are experts in their own experiences, and their perspectives are central to understanding the challenges they face as well as the strengths they bring.

Throughout assessment and intervention, we work alongside our clients, taking time to listen carefully, answer questions and ensure that recommendations are relevant, achievable and aligned with each person’s goals.

Evidence Based Clinical Practice

Our work combines current psychological research with extensive clinical experience.

Assessments are conducted using evidence based clinical interviews, standardised psychological measures and recognised best practice guidelines. Clinical judgement and formulation are integrated with assessment findings to develop an understanding that reflects the individual as a whole.

Every recommendation is tailored to the person’s unique profile rather than relying on a one size fits all approach.

Practical Recommendations That Make a Difference

The assessment process is only one part of the journey.

Our reports are designed to provide clear explanations, meaningful formulations and practical recommendations that can be used in everyday life.

Recommendations may include educational supports, workplace accommodations, therapeutic interventions, strategies for executive functioning, emotional wellbeing, sensory needs, parenting approaches and signposting to relevant services and resources within Ireland.

Our aim is for every person who attends Mynd Clinical Psychology to leave with a deeper understanding of themselves and practical next steps that support their wellbeing and future development.

Supporting People Across the Lifespan

We work with children, adolescents and adults at every stage of life.

Whether someone is beginning school, navigating adolescence, managing the demands of adulthood or seeking answers later in life, our approach remains the same.

We take time to understand each individual’s experiences, recognise their strengths, and provide thoughtful, evidence based support that empowers people to move forward with greater confidence and self understanding.
